The core principle

Watts = Warmth

The wattage of our heated gear is directly related to how much heat it produces — the higher the number, the warmer you'll be. A 40-watt jacket produces almost six times the warmth of a 7-watt one.

If you're active, a lower wattage gives you just enough boost. If you're sensitive to cold or stand still for long periods, choose higher wattage to replace the heat you lose.
